Telecom giant Ericsson invested Rs5.52 bn in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Ericsson, global telecom giant,has invested US $31 million (Rs5.52 billion) foreign direct investment in Pakistan, says a press release issued on Saturday.

In a meeting with Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Fadi Pharaon Head of Middle East & Africa Ericsson, Ekow Nelson Head of Customer Unit Etisalat & Pakistan & country Manager Pakistan Aamir Ahsan Khan mentioned that Ericsson is keen in regaining the radio foot print in the strategic market like Pakistan.

Pakistan offers permanent residency scheme for rich foreigners

PAKISTAN has decided to offer a permanent residency scheme for wealthy foreign nationals, including Sikhs living in the US and Canada, to attract investments, it emerged on Saturday (15).

Information minister Fawad Chaudhry through an overnight tweet announced that the new scheme was in line with the new National Security Policy, which was formally launched by prime minister Imran Khan on Friday (14).

Foreign direct investment increases 20pc in July-December

KARACHI: Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) increased 20 per cent year-on-year in the first half of 2021-22, reflecting an improvement in the investment environment.

In the first half of the current fiscal year, FDI amounted to $1.05 billion against the inflow of $879.7 million in the same period of 2020-21.

The inflow in December 2021 jumped 29pc year-on-year to $218.7m, data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) showed on Tuesday.

BOI implements 100 reforms to facilitate businesses

Remaining reforms, out of 168 proposed, at various stages of implementation

The Board of Investment (BOI) has completed 100 reforms out of the 168 proposed reforms under Regulatory Reforms and Guillotine Initiatives (PRMI) that aim to identify, simplify, modernize or eliminate the regulatory bottlenecks for facilitation of businesses, particularly Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
